Jefferson Papers Online
Jefferson Digital Edition (in Rotunda’s American Founding Era Collection/University of Virginia Press)
In April 2009, the Papers of Thomas Jefferson, Princeton University Press, and Rotunda at University of Virginia Press, announced the inclusion of The Papers of Thomas Jefferson Digital Edition in Rotunda's American Founding Era digital collection. Included are the first 44 volumes of the print edition as well as 15 volumes of the Retirement Series and 2 volumes of Jefferson's Memorandum Books. Edited by James P. McClure and J. Jefferson Looney, this XML-based edition is subscription-only access and is updated with new volumes within 18 months of their print publication. Newly found documents and corrections to the print edition are also added.
Founders Online (National Archives)
Thomas Jefferson joined five other founders whose correspondence and writings are fully accessible and freely available online in the release of a beta version of Founders Online in June 2013. This web resource, funded and maintained by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, includes the transcriptions and annotations of our published volumes and brings reliable texts of Jefferson’s writings to the widest possible audience. For searching the Jefferson Papers in Founders Online, see this brief video prepared by the Jefferson Library at Monticello.
